Twelve Sands is a browser-based role playing game, and currently supports hundreds of users. It is primarily developed in PHP5, with a MySQL 5.0 database. Leaderboard generation and general nightly maintenance is automated with a series of Python and PHP scripts. Changes are made in a solitary development environment, and are “pushed” to the test and live environments, in order to ensure that active players are shielded from the constant maintenance and updates.
Twelve Sands started as a proof-of-concept, and has grown into a unique online game with an active community.

An online profile for parents to show off their newborns, developed in PHP/MySQL

honeybook.ca started from a desire to give my upcoming baby boy an online site, in order to help share his day-to-day life with close family and friends. After looking around at the established sites, I felt I could do a better job developing something from scratch. By developing the site as a profile-centered site instead of an individual user’s site, it has grown into a fully-functional business. It’s a great feeling to run something that’s just as important to me as it is to the users, and since my own newborn has a site here, I have a vested interest in making the site as usable and fun as possible!
It is primarily developed in PHP5, with a MySQL 5.0 database. The site features file transfers, a generalized comment system that allows almost every piece of content to be tagged with text from family and friends, and an aesthetically pleasing interface with nice big buttons.
